The Clean Beauty Connoisseur: Tiffany T. Scott
Róen Beauty, a glamorous brand known for its well-edited range and luxe packaging, was born out of a not-so-pretty problem. Tiffany T. Scott, Róen’s founder and CEO, said her “aha moment” occurred at the dermatologist’s office, where she was told that the persistent stye in her eyelid might be instigated by the harsh ingredients in her makeup. Scott, who was studying nutrition at the time, found herself focusing less on food labels and diving deeper into what was actually inside her cosmetics.
Our philosophy is that clean can be sexy and glamorous
After noticing that high-performance formulas in vanity-worthy packaging were hard to come by, Scott made it her mission to create clean a beauty line without any compromises. “Our philosophy is that clean can be sexy and glamorous,” says Scott.
To bring her vision to life, she enlisted world-renowned photographer David Roemer (Róen’s creative director) and celebrity makeup artist Kate Synnott (Róen’s beauty creative director), whose roster includes A-listers like Nicole Kidman, Julianne Hough, Hailey Bieber, and Eiza González. Together, the trio launched the line in 2019 with inspiring imagery and “transparently clean” formulas, which Scott defines as being “honest with your consumers about your ingredients and how they are sourced.”
While Róen has very strict standards and has banned 2600 ingredients to date, Scott says that it’s important to know that “not all chemicals are bad nor good to put on your skin.” She works alongside Synnott and a team of chemists to develop innovative products that are safe, effective, and undeniably chic. Scott refuses to settle for anything less, which she says “can be a bit of a nightmare for our labs, but it’s what makes Róen products so amazing!”
After I hop out of the shower, the first thing I do is gently apply our Elixir Face Oil to my face and décolleté.
Here, Scott shares her two-step secret for dramatically dewy skin and the reason she’s “religious” about cleaning out her makeup drawer.

Her best business advice: “Patience, which has never been my strong suit! I’ve always liked to accomplish tasks quickly so that I can move on to the next thing. However, when you’re creating beauty products, especially clean beauty products, it’s important to exercise patience. For example, our CAKE mascara took us almost 18 months to formulate with over 20 lab submissions until we got it right. We were so proud when it was named Best Clean Mascara by Glamour in 2021.”

Her proudest product moment: “Beyond our hero eyeshadow palettes that put us on the map, I’m especially proud of our newly launched Elixir Skincare line. It consists of an incredibly effective Restorative Face Oil and Tinted Lip-Oil-Balm. I’m excited about how well the products have been received. Our Lip-Oil-Balm has even recently been embraced by a global celebrity who is known for having the most famous lips in the world.”

To complete my routine, I moisturize my lips with Elixir Tinted-Lip-Oil-Balm to give them a wash of color. It’s also super nourishing and contains hyaluronic acid, sweet almond oil, and argan oil. It feels dreamy on lips.

Her glowy skin secret: “My life is so busy, so I like to keep my beauty routine as simple and easy as possible. I start my day with a glass of lemon water to wake me up. It also keeps the body alkaline, which is important for so many things, including inflammation, cellular regeneration, digestion, and bone health. After I hop out of the shower, the first thing I do is gently apply our Elixir Face Oil to my face and décolleté. If I'm in a hurry, I mix it with my foundation. This gives me instant dewy glow and assures that my skin gets important nourishing ingredients, which is great if you don’t like to fuss with three or four products.”

Her makeup must-haves: “I don’t leave the house without doing my brows because they’re so light and sparse. I love using vowBrow because it mimics real hair, it lasts all day, and it’s foolproof. Next, I apply a few swipes of eyeshadow and CAKE Mascara. To complete my routine, I moisturize my lips with Elixir Tinted-Lip-Oil-Balm to give them a wash of color. It’s also super nourishing and contains hyaluronic acid, sweet almond oil, and argan oil. It feels dreamy on lips.”

Her biggest beauty indulgence: “My biggest beauty indulgence is a good facial at either Carasoin Day Spa (they use the best clean products) or The Spa by Joanna Vargas at the Sunset Tower Hotel. It makes me feel ten years younger!”

Her top drugstore discovery:Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. I have the driest lips and when I want a natural moisturizer, it’s my go-to.”

Her go-to beauty pros: “My favorite beauty pro is Dr. Harold Lancer, a dermatologist in Beverly Hills. My husband went to him years before he became famous. He introduced me to Dr. Lancer when I was in my 20s. What I love about him is that he never overdoes anything and likes to keep things as natural as possible. He also knows skin like nobody else!”

Her biggest beauty mistake: “My biggest beauty faux pas was keeping expired products. I’m now religious about cleaning out my makeup drawer every two months and throwing out anything that is past its prime. It seems obvious, but it’s easy to keep products for long periods of time and not think about it.”

Her beauty icon:Cassandra Grey. She is such a powerhouse in the beauty industry and is a true visionary with impeccable taste. Her store on Melrose Place in Los Angeles is one of my favorite places to explore and play with products.”

Her favorite escape: “ Paris. It sounds cliché, but I love the inspiration I find when I’m there, as well as the culture, architecture, and style. I love that the women are so effortlessly chic. The product I can’t live without when I travel is Tatcha’s Dewy Skin Face Mist. It’s perfect for a long plane ride when your skin is feeling dry and needs a pick-me-up.”

Her dream vanity raid: “If I could raid anyone’s vanity, it would be Cindy Crawford. I love her minimalist makeup aesthetic. She also has amazing skin. I love that she made imperfections sexy with her famous beauty mark.”

The Skin Savers: Dr. Nancy Samolitis & Danielle Nadick-Levy

Dr. Nancy Samolitis and Danielle Nadick-Levy both hail from Illinois, but the co-founders of Facile—a Los Angeles mecca for anyone seeking a gorgeous, glowing complexion—couldn’t be more different. Growing up in a rural town 100 miles outside of Chicago, Dr. Samolitis, a board-certified dermatologist who refers to herself as a “skin perfectionist” on social media, didn’t necessarily prioritize beauty. “My family never saw a dermatologist, my cousins did our hair, and we never got our nails done,” she says.
