Gift Like a Beauty Boss: The Dr. Loretta Edition

We asked a few of our favorite beauty bosses to reveal their holiday wish lists
Gift Like a Beauty Boss: The Dr. Loretta Edition
Who: Dr. Loretta

This board-certified derm with an award-winning product line gives the gift of good skin 365 days a year—and the holidays are no exception.

What She’s Giving:

1. “I’m gifting our Tightening Eye Gel, which is a hydrating formula that recently won an Allure Best of Beauty Award. It de-puffs undereye bags, lightens dark circles, and lessens the appearance of crow's feet. It’s the perfect present because it works for everyone, including those with sensitive or post-procedure skin.”

2. “I’ll also be giving the new Urban Antioxidant Sunscreen SPF 40 that is designed to use both indoors and outside. It’s the first SPF to feature firming peptides while defending against indoor pollution. As a dermatologist with more than 40 years of clinical and research experience, I've discovered that skin is damaged by indoor lighting coming from computer screens and cell phones. Our faces are exposed to these damaging rays for far longer than we sit in the sun. This product can be used as a daytime moisturizer, makeup primer, or even a sheer foundation since it’s lightly tinted. Many of my patients are already stocking up on this product for the holidays!”

3. “Two of my favorite gifts are candles and framed photos. For very close friends and family, I give a framed photo that captures a special memory. I love Voluspa candles because they smell great, aren't too pricey, and come in a wide array of colors and scents that complement just about everyone’s décor.”

4. “We live in Miami Beach literally steps away from The Standard. I often give a gift certificate to the hotel spa, which is amazing and stocks my skincare range.”

The Standard Spa Miami

My husband and I are Italian and we love to cook! Inviting small groups of friends to our home for a special meal is a wonderful gift for both us and our guests.

The Gift She’s Giving Herself: “My husband and I are Italian and we love to cook! Inviting small groups of friends to our home for a special meal is a wonderful gift for both us and our guests.”

What She’d Like to Receive: “The best gift of all is getting to spend Christmas with our four adult children and their families, including our two grandchildren.”

How She Gives Back: “Although we should always be mindful of those in need throughout the entire year, I think the holiday season is a special time to focus on helping fellow Americans who are food insecure—especially the one in seven American children who struggle daily with hunger. Feeding America is a nonprofit that provides meals to families across the U.S. and abroad.”

Her Homemade Gift: “We’ve gotten close to a number of the Syrian refugee families placed in South Florida. One of the women even made us baklava. We got her recipe and one batch makes about sixty pieces, which I plan to divide up among friends. Arranging 15 pieces or so on a beautiful serving dish or a nice platter from Home Goods makes a nice gift.”

Her Holiday Plans: “Staying at home. It will be the first time since we’ve had our grandchildren, ages one and three, that the entire family will be in Miami Beach for Christmas. We can't wait!”

Her De-Stress Strategy: “A more relaxed pace is truly priceless! Because my work schedule is suspended during the holidays, I love to celebrate by staying in bed until at least 8:00 every morning. During the year, I’m either seeing patients by 8:30, working on the brand, or visiting one of our sixty-odd retailers.”

24 Hours In Provence With Bastide’s Shirin von Wulffen

As winter settles in and temperatures drop, why not escape the cold (if only for a moment!) to the sunny days of yore, where steamy afternoons are best spent enjoying a brief “une sieste” after a late nights sipping bottomless glasses of rosé.
